thanks to my dad, who went out and took a bunch of great pics of waskada...

let's start at the beginning...

welcome to waskada!

a small prairie town located in the southwest corner of manitoba... population somewhere around 200 friendly people...

this is the place where i grew up, and where my parents still live... a place that holds a special place in my heart!

this is a picture of waskada school... between 70 and 80 students attend this school in every grade from kindergarten to grade 12. sometimes they talk about closing the high school, busing the kids to the next town, but it never happens, mostly due to the efforts of the community. everyone is proud of this school... without fail, the whole community comes out to see the grade 12 graduation every year. i'm proud to say i graduated from waskada school...

what's next... how about some scenery pictures? the first one is the view from my parents' front window, out to temples' farm... i love this view. you can see the 'turtle mountains' in the far distance...

and this one... this is just a landscape... wide open skies... land stretching out as far as the eye can see... and a classic symbol of waskada... the pumpjack. sometimes, in the quiet, you can hear the 'squeak, squeak' of the pumpjack moving up and down, over and over.

i'll post some more pics in a bit... for now, it's off to buy the supplies for the upcoming thanksgiving dinner... gobble til you wobble!
